What's the difference between looking for and offering a ride?

Passengers say where they need to go. Drivers save the routes they drive regularly, like home to work. HopHola brings the two together.

How are the rides I see chosen?

When you search for a ride, the algorithm looks at everyone with a compatible route and ranks them by affinity with your request. The best matches come first. If you have both added preferences and interests, it also shows what you have in common, and among equally good rides, drivers you share more with come first.

How do I know where to meet the driver?

For every ride the app shows how far you walk to the meeting point, how far you ride together and how far you walk to your destination.

Can I save more than one route?

Yes. Drivers can add every route they drive, for example home and work, work and gym, home and university.

Is the chat secure?

Chat between users is end-to-end encrypted and stays only on your phone. You can block or report a user at any time.

Do drivers have to show where they start and end?

No. Drivers choose what to share: they can hide their starting point and destination, so passengers only see the shared stretch, and hide how often they drive that road. Or show everything.

Can I ride only with verified drivers?

Yes. In the filters you can turn on "Verified drivers only": you'll only see drivers whose ID document has been verified by HopHola.

Is HopHola a transport service?

No. HopHola connects private individuals who share trips they already make, on a not-for-profit basis.

How close does the driver need to pass?

The drivers you see pass within 2 km of your start and your destination. If you can't find anyone, try an address nearby.

Who can use HopHola?

Anyone aged 18 or over. An ID document is required before your first trip; drivers also need a valid licence and insurance.

How do I sign up?

It takes seconds: continue with your Google account, with Apple or with your email.

Which phones does it work on?

HopHola is available for iPhone on the App Store.
